Certification and Safety of Beeswax Bags Freshy
Yes, our beeswax bags and wraps for preserving food freshness are tested and certified by the Regional Public Health Authority in Slovakia. They meet all the requirements set forth in the following regulations:
– Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 October 2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, repealing Directives 80/590/EEC and 89/109/EEC.
– Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic of 9 June 2003 No. 1799/2003-100,** which issues the fifth head of the Food Code of the Slovak Republic regulating materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, as amended.
These products are suitable for direct contact with food, including packaging and storing fruits, vegetables, dry foods, non-greasy baked goods, and covering bowls at room or lower temperatures.

Beeswax Bags Freshy are natural and reusable food storage wraps that help extend freshness and reduce food waste in households. Made from cotton impregnated with beeswax and other natural materials, they allow food to breathe and stay fresh.
Materials Used in Beeswax Wraps Freshy
Our beeswax wraps are made from natural materials such as cotton, beeswax, jojoba (wax roll), or coconut oil (beeswax wraps and bags), and tree resin. Together, these ingredients create a flexible and adhesive material ideal for food storage.
Care for Beeswax Bags
After use, simply rinse the beeswax bag or wrap with cold water and optionally use a mild eco-friendly detergent. Let it air dry, and it’s ready for reuse. Avoid exposing the wraps to high temperatures during washing or drying, as they can melt the wax. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can also cause the wax to melt.

With proper care, as outlined above, beeswax bags can last up to a year or longer.
Suitable Food for Beeswax Wraps
Beeswax wraps are ideal for packaging a wide variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, cheeses, baked goods, and sandwiches. However, they are not suitable for wrapping raw meat, hot, or greasy foods.
Using Beeswax Bags for Freezing
Beeswax bags can also be used for freezing, such as for bread, but not for more than 3 weeks. They are ideal for storing food in the fridge or in dry and cool conditions.
Microwave and Oven Use
No, beeswax bags should not be exposed to high temperatures, as the wax may melt. Use microwave-safe containers without the beeswax wrap for reheating food.

Yes, our beeswax bags are eco-friendly. They are made from renewable resources, designed for repeated use, and are 100% compostable. By using them, you help reduce single-use plastic waste and support a sustainable lifestyle.
Allergic Reactions
Beeswax wraps are made from natural materials, but if you have allergies to bee products or any of the oils used (jojoba or coconut oil), we recommend performing an allergy test before first use.
What to Do When Beeswax Wraps Lose Their Functionality
After their lifespan, you can compost the beeswax wrap or use it as an eco-friendly fire starter for a barbecue or campfire. They burn well and help start fires. You can also refresh the wrap by ironing the wax between two sheets of parchment paper, but be cautious of the temperature.
